Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour set Sunday in West Chester

WEST CHESTER» There’s a bike ride for all ages and skill levels during the 19th Annual Brandywine Valley Heating & Air Conditioning Challenge for Cancer Bike Tour on Sunday, June 25. Riders will enjoy 5-, 10-, 25-, 50- and 65-mile course options throughout the Chester County countryside knowing they are making a difference in the lives of patients in their community. All funds raised will stay in Chester County to benefit the The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital as well as Neighborhood Health.

The day kicks off at 7 a.m. from Fern Hill Medical Campus, 915 Old Fern Hill Rd., in West Chester. The family ride begins with breakfast, then a 5-mile tour followed by a barbecue and kids’ games. More experienced riders may register for 10-, 25-, 50- and 65mile tours. Registration is open online through June 23 and ranges from $35to $110. Day-of registrations are also accepted at a $5 cost increase for individual and family rates.

There will be tech support for riders along the tours, including bike safety checks, refreshments, support and gear (SAG) vehicles thanks to Thomas Chevrolet, Inc., cue sheets, road markings and road marshals.

Individuals and groups may simply enjoy the ride or take part in the Fundraising Challenge by seeking sponsorships from friends, family and coworkers.

New this year is the First Annual Survivorship Celebration for patients of The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital and their families. It includes a complimentary day of family fun, including a barbecue, live music and games.
