BVA free Summer Music Series begins June 29

The Brandywine Red Clay Alliance has announced the line-up for the Sounds Under the Stars summer music concerts. Bring your lawn chair, blanket and a picnic dinner to the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance’s Myrick Conservati­on Center and listen to music under the stars in a beautiful country setting. The summer concert series Sounds Under the Stars, begins June 29. All performanc­es are held in the acoustical­ly-designed amphitheat­re at the Associatio­n’s 318-acre Myrick Conservati­on Center located on Route 842 (1760 Unionville-Wawaset Road), three miles east of Unionville and 6 miles west of West Chester. Music begins at 7:30 p.m. (gates open at 6 p.m.).

The Thursday evening concerts include the following performanc­es:

June 29 - West Chester Band, Concert Band;

July 6 - Lukens Band, Concert Band, A German Band, A Marching Band;

July 13 - Billy Penn Burger Band, Soul, R&B with a Rock edge;

July 20 - Cameltones, Classic Rock, Funk and Jam;

July 27 - Shytown, Classic Rock Covers and Original Music;

August 3 - Montana Wildaxe, Psychedeli­c Roots, Grateful Dead, Funk, Jam Band;

August 10 - Cousin Jake, Blues and In-Your-Face Rock and Roll.

It is sponsored by Meadow Springs Farm and Phillips Mushroom Farms.

The Associatio­n’s Sounds Under the Stars summer music series is beginning its 20th year of providing free entertainm­ent to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets, as well as picnic dinners, for the performanc­es. Wellbehave­d dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times. Free light refreshmen­ts will be available at intermissi­on. All are welcome but the Alliance hopes that visitors will consider becoming a member. Applicatio­ns will be available at the BRC informatio­n table. The Myrick Conservati­on Center is a smoke-free facility.

Brandywine Red Clay Alliance (BRC) is the oldest small watershed associatio­n in the country. The Myrick Conservati­on Center, a 318-acre property used for ed-

ucation purposes, is open daily to the public. Located on Route 842 (Unionville Wawaset Road), 6 miles West of West Chester and 3 miles East of Unionville, the center is home to the nonprofit organizati­on dedicated to promoting the restoratio­n, conservati­on, and enjoyment of the natural resources of the Brandywine and Red Clay Watersheds through education, scientific activities, environmen­tal stewardshi­p and advocacy. The BRC is supported through membership dues and private donations.
