Dr. Raymond Schlosser Jr. of Chester Springs

Dr. Raymond Schlosser, Jr., 91, husband of Carolyn (Pritchard) Schlosser, of Chester Springs, PA, died on Friday, June 23, 2017.

Born on July 19, 1925 in Upper Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond, Sr., and Ella (Murray) Schlosser.

He was a graduate of Havertown High School.

Dr. Schlosser was an honorably discharged Private having served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a graduate of Penn State University, and then he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvan­ia.

He opened the first animal surgery unit for the University of Pennsylvan­ia and proceeded to teach there before opening his own practice in Chester Springs.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelica­l Lutheran Church in Chester Springs.

He was very active in Land Conservati­on, an active member of Pickering Hunt, Pickering Trust and the Rotary.

He was an avid horseman and participat­ed in different equestrian events in Chester County. He enjoyed spending time at their beach house at the Jersey Shore, sailing, and playing tennis.

Surviving in addition to his wife are,

daughter, Lesley (Steve) Burrell of Vermont,

grandaught­er, Morgan Smith, 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Feldbaumer and Joan Luressen, and nephew, Tom Luressen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in St. Peter’s Evangelica­l Lutheran Church, 1239 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA, on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ronald Wesemann officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery.

A viewing will be held in the church on Tuesday morning from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be sent to the Main Line Animal Rescue, 1149 Pike Springs Road, Phoenixvil­le, PA 19460, or to St. Peter’s Evangelica­l Lutheran Church, 1239 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
