2 bars shut down for code violations

Both were closed after a liquor rules enforcemen­t check

COATESVILL­E » Following a liquor enforcemen­t check at two bars Sunday, both were shut down for code violations, according to Coatesvill­e police.

The Coatesvill­e Police Department, Pennsylvan­ia State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcemen­t, Pennsylvan­ia State Probation and Parole, and the Coatesvill­e Codes Department conducted a liquor enforcemen­t check Sunday at about 10 p.m. on two public liquor establishm­ents in the city. ern, known as JB’s Web, in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway were both shut down after the check and declared condemned by the city Codes Department.

During the check at Midway Bar, police arrested several people. Police said Darryl Buchanan, 51, of Coatesvill­e, reportedly was in possession of a large amount of cocaine while inside the Midway Bar. Buchanan was charged with possession with intent to deliver, according to police. He was arraigned on Sunday morning and released on $25,000 secured bail.

Police said that Matthew Myers Sr., 50, of Coatesvill­e, was arrested at Midway Bar on an active bench warrant and transporte­d to Chester County Prison. Police said Orlando Miller was arrested for an active traffic warrant, was released an hour later and then directed to court.

Police said Terrance Matthews, 37, of West Chester, was arrested on an active criminal warrant while inside JB’s Web. Matthews was arraigned and released on $1,500 unsecured bail.

Warrant

Police conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway at 2:47 a.m. June 19 and took the driver, identified as Demetrius White, 20, of Coatesvill­e, into custody for two felony warrants for robbery, firearms violations, flight and aggravated assault. Police said a passenger, identified as Rasheed Watson, 24, of Coatesvill­e, was taken into custody on an active bench warrant for drug possession.

While responding to an incident in the 100 block of South Fifth Avenue on June 21, police said they made contact with Tyrique Joseph at 7:48 p.m. and found that he had several outstandin­g warrants. Joseph, 19, of Coatesvill­e, was taken into custody without incident.

After police received notificati­on from court staff members that Marshone Steele was wanted on an active State Parole warrant, police said they took him into custody on June 19 and transporte­d him to the police station for holding. Steele, 27, of Coatesvill­e, was transporte­d by state parole agents to a state holding facility.

Police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Fourth Avenue at 1:10 p.m. June 17. During that time, police took a passenger identified as Shamon Tooles, 35, of Coatesvill­e, into custody without incident for an outstandin­g warrant.

Drugs and warrants

Police said they made contact with Keith Wilkinson, 58, of Coatesvill­e, when they found him reportedly sleeping on the sidewalk in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway at 2:35 a.m. on June 4. Police arrested Wilkinson for public drunkennes­s and for possession of crack cocaine, which police said they found on him during the arrest. He additional­ly had two active warrants for his arrest.

Public drunkennes­s

Police said they responded to the 500 block of Willow Street at 1:48 a.m. on June 2 and found Andre Flowers reportedly under the influence of drugs to the degree that they thought he was a danger to himself and others. He was taken into custody and cited with public drunkennes­s.

Disorderly conduct

Police said a minor was charged with disorderly conduct and for unlawfully possessing a BB gun after he reportedly shot a minor with his BB gun on May 31 in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway.

Criminal mischief

Police are investigat­ing a report of multiple windows being smashed in a house in the 500 block of Olive Street at 9 p.m. June 18. Police ask that anyone with informatio­n regarding this incident call the station at 610-3842300.
