7 people hurt in 2 separate car crashes
The incidents occurred about a mile apart and within an hour of each other
WEST BRANDYWINE » First responders assisted at two separate car accidents with entrapment on Saturday that injured a total of seven people.
East Brandywine Fire Company firefighters responded Saturday afternoon for a car accident reported serious in the area of Route 82 (Manor Road) and Hibernia Road in West Brandywine. Upon arrival, East Brandywine Fire Chief John Edwards reported that four cars were involved, and one was overturned. Four basic life support (BLS) ambulances and two medic units were dispatched because of the number of patients involved. Additionally, Glen Moore Fire Company was requested for an additional rescue crew and fire police handled traffic control in the area during the incident.
Three patients were extricated from the vehicle and five trauma patients were transported to Paoli Hospital, according to Edwards. The extent of their injuries were not immediately known Monday.
Within an hour and while firefighters were still on-scene, Chester County Fire Radio alerted Edwards that a second accident reported serious occurred on Culbertson Run Road, about a mile away. Initial reports indicated that one vehicle went into a creek and the occupants were trapped, however the car had not entered the water. East Brandywine and Glen Moore firefighters responded to that scene and removed the doors and the roof to the vehicle. Two patients were extricated and they both were transported to Paoli Hospital.
“Our thoughts an prayers are with all seven patients and their families who were involved in the auto accidents,” the East Brandywine Fire Company website states.
