Michael L. Cotter, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Neighborho­od Hospice in West Chester.

He was the husband of Betty Seber Cotter.

Born May 31, 1945 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Edward Cotter and the late Jean Evans Cotter.

He was a member of St. Agnes Church.

A resident of West Chester for all his life, Mike graduated from St. Agnes, Bishop Shanahan High School, and went on to earn his Master Degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University.

He proudly served in the Marines from 1969-1972 being discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant. He was a Combat Engineer and was head of security at the American Embassy in Saigon in 1971.

Mike worked for over 28 years with the Chester County Detectives, and retired as a Lieutenant.

He was a life member of the Chester County Police Chief Associatio­n, where he served as the recording secretary, a life member of the Fame Fire Company, serving as a Lieutenant, and a life member of the National Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #106, a 3rd Degree Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, and a social member of the Goodwill Fire Company.

Mike was a devoted husband and father. He loved his days at the beach with his family, and especially the time he spent with his grandchild­ren. He also had a passion for learning about weather and bird watching, and loved the history of West Chester.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Harrison (Jim), Chrissy March (Dave) and Michael Cotter (Maria); grandchild­ren, Erin, Victoria, Lindsay, Alyssa, Mi- chael and Marlaina; Also survived by his siblings, Debbie Campbell (Charlie) and Mark Cotter.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at the DellaVecch­ia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be in St. Ag- nes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to St. Agnes Church at the above address.
