Mary Rose (McAleer) Robinson of Berwyn, PA

-

Mary Rose Robinson, 94, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2017 to be with her beloved husband William B. Robinson, Sr. She was born in 1922 to Hugh and Edith McAleer near Wayne and graduated from St. Katherine’s High School in 1940. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Bill Robinson. The two spent 60 years together before Bill’s passing in 2008.

Together, they raised two wonderful children, Will and Barbara, and later became devoted grandparents to David, Christopher, Mary Jeanne, William, Michelle, Julia, and Brian. No matter where her grandchildren’s lives would take them, a birthday never passed without a package arriving from “Mom-Mom” with her special homemade cake inside. Mary is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “G.G.”

Mary had a sharp wit and an active mind, and was especially good with numbers. She worked as a bookkeeper at York Apothecary for decades and regular customers will remember always being greeted by Mary’s warm smile and friendly banter. The family spent many summers together at Mary and Bill’s shore house in Ocean City, N.J. where Mary loved sitting on her porch reading or solving word puzzles. She could quietly solve even the most challenging cryptograms.

Her family was always nearby, including her sisters, Anna and Rose, and her devoted nephew and niece, Tommy and Elaine Robinson of Wayne. Mary attended St. Monica’s Church in Berwyn for 60 years and never left the house without her rosary beads.

Mary was predeceased by her brother, Hugh McAleer, and son-in-law, Larry Farrell.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mary’s viewing from 10am to 10:45 am followed by Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30 at St. Monica’s Church, 635 First Ave, Berwyn, PA 19312. Inter. St. Monica Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at www.camillahall.org or to Camilla Hall, 1145 King Rd., Box 100, Immaculata PA 19345.
