Red Men offense beats up on Whelihan’s

The Red Men banged out 13 hits in a 5-1 win over P.J. Whelihan’s Wednesday night in West Chester Baseball League action.

Starting pitcher Brian Brown allowed one hit in three innings of work, while Tanner Thrush and Kyle Guers finished the job on the mound for the Red Men.

Cole Chestnut and Nate Guers had two hits each for the Red Men, with Guers hitting his leaguelead­ing sixth home run of the year. Chestnut had the biggest hit of the night with a two-run double to break a 1-1 tie in the fourth.

The Prowlers were led by Steve McCardell, who doubles, singled, walked and drove in the team’s only run. ENGLUNDS 4, CRAWDADS 2 » Englunds rode the strong pitching of Mike Dietz and solo home runs from Mike Douglas and Chris Cowell to a win at Flagg Field. Dietz held the Crawdads to three hits in a complete game performanc­e, besting Brent Greeley of the Crawdads, who struck out seven in six innings. Douglas had two hits for the Clothiers, who also got a 3-for-3 performanc­e from Cowell. Defending champion Englunds improved to 15-1 on the season, while the 2nd place Crawdads fell to 8-8.

In Coatesvill­e Baseball League action:

VICTORY BREWING 6, BARNSTORME­RS 3 » Drew Haly pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, allowing two earned runs and three hits, as Victory Brewing moved to 9-7 on the season.

Adult Softball

TRI-COUNTY SENIOR MODIFIED » Charlie Jelke went 3-for-3 and Dave Gordon, Brick Roop and Ben Stoltzfus each had two hits in All-State’s 11-4 win over Jitters Sports Bar.

In other action, Landmark swept a doublehead­er over Coffee Cup, 12-0 and 6-0. Dave Mendenhall and Jim Grinestaff picked up the wins for Landmark on the mound, while Carey Wertz went 5-for-5 with four RBIs in the doublehead­er.

Also in the Tri-County Senior Modified league: Road Scholar Transport beat Coatesvill­e Moose, 15-5, while Carlson’s Auto Body and Fence Sense/ Proudfoot Roofing split a doublehead­er, with Carlson’s taking a 10-7 decision and Fence Sense winning, 12-8.

Basketball

JUST-A-CHANCE ALUMNI LEAGUE » Matt McCarick scored 22 points as Macelree Harvey beat Great Valley, 69-67. Kyle Stackhouse had 15 points for Great Valley.

In other action, Team Elite beat Rightous Felons, 64-51, thanks to 18 points from Herman Mercado. Brendan Cawley led all scorers with 21 points. In the final game of the night, Let It Fly beat West Chester East, 66-51. Rashan Dejarnette had 16 for Let It Fly, while Evan Anderson had 14 for East.
