Nicholas J. Vietri, 101, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Neighborho­od Hospice in West Chester. He was the beloved husband of the late Adelina (nee Zappacosta) Vietri with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesvill­e, he was the son of the late Michael and Soccorsa (Arture) Vietri.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, working in the Brooklyn Naval Yard as a welder.

Through the experience gained while working in the Navy, Nick went on to work for Luken’s Steel as an electric furnace strand castor. He was proud to be one of 11 selected and trained in this field. He loved his job and remained with Luken’s for 40 years before retiring at the age of 65.

He was an avid fan of all Philadelph­ia sports teams. Nick enjoyed walking, helping out at his Church and most of all visiting people at a nearby hospital who were in need of a friendly smile and a listening ear.

Nicholas is survived by his three children, William R. (Sharyn) Vietri, Barbara (Francis) Walton and Robert (Linda) Vietri; a sister, Rosalie Valocchi; 9 grandchild­ren and 17 great grandchild­ren. He was also predecease­d by two sons Barry and Raymond and 4 brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 80 South 17th Avenue, Coatesvill­e, PA, where friends may call from 09:00 to 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:30a.m. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made in his name to Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 80 South 17th Avenue, Coatesvill­e, PA 19320.
