Limerick Pet Valu store relocates, gets bigger
LIMERICK » Fans of the Pet Valu store at the Limerick Square Shopping Center and their pets now have a little more room to move around.
The store has switched locations within the same center at 70 Buckwalter Road in Limerick, offering customers about 1,500 square feet of additional space. Recently reopened, the location will be showing itself off to the community during a grand opening on Saturday.
“The previous store was one of our older stores, and didn’t have some of the newer features, like a pet wash,” said district manager Whitney Arthur. “We have also expanded our product line to offer a larger variety of food, supplies and toys.”
Arthur added that the store specializes in pet nutrition, and its six full- and part-time employees have received training in pet nutrition.
“We want to help pet parents make the best decisions when it comes to food, treats and accessories,” she said.
The new self-serve pet wash stations allow dog owners to give their pet a bath — complete with shampoo, apron, a towel and high-velocity dryer, according to the Pet Valu website. The dog wash stations will be available free of charge on Saturday.
Saturday’s event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., will also feature product samples, raffles and kid-friendly entertainment as well as refreshments provided by Texas Roadhouse for two-legged visitors and treats for the four-legged visitors.
In addition, Cat NAPS of Pottstown will be on-hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a selection of cats that are available for adoption.
Customers can also make a purchase at the store that benefits the U.S. War Dog Association
— a nonprofit organization of former and current U.S. military dog handlers and supporting members committed to promoting the history of military service dogs, establishing permanent war dog memorials
and educating the public about the service these canines provide.
Customers can purchase an American flag bandana or a paper paw to make a donation to help raise funds for war dogs. To date, the Pet Valu’s initiative has raised $1.3 million, according to the company’s website.
“We want to be the hometown, go-to community store,” Arthur added.
