James P. Williams of West Chester

James (Jim) Pierce Williams, 82, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 24, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Robert and Jean (Berkheiser) Williams. Jim graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics. He served two tours with the U.S. Army; his first tour took place in Naples, Italy, and the second at Fort Meade, Maryland. Jim worked as an industrial engineer for various corporations, retiring after 26 years as an engineer and purchasing agent at Unisys. After getting bored with retirement, he worked part-time for the Chester County Convention and Visitors Bureau and, later, at John Milner Associates.

Jim loved watching NASCAR and reading. He was also a volunteer at the Chester County Library. One of the highlights of his retirement happened when he and his wife, Judy, took their therapy dog, Mollie Lama, on therapy duty to Adult Care of Chester County and St. James Place. Jim and Judy worked with Mollie, a Shih-Tzu, to get her certified as a therapy dog through Pals for Life.

Jim is survived and missed by his wife, fellow Leo and best friend, Judy Perego-Williams, with whom he shared 34 years of a great marriage. He is also survived and lovingly remembered by a sister, Gail White, of Santa Barbara, CA; three sons, Matthew and his wife, Patrice, of Mesquite, TX; Jeffrey (Mikki), of South Yarmouth, MA; and Adam of Lowell, MA; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. Jim was loved by all who knew him for his kindness, sense of humor, quiet strength and subtle, quick wit.

Jim donated his body to the Humanity Gifts Registry to be used for medical education and research purposes. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service.
