Cops: Man, 35, stabbed to death
Police responding to call for fight discover victim with multiple stab wounds
POTTSTOWN » Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place in Pottstown Sunday night.
An unidentified 35-year-old man was stabbed to death at about 10:30 p.m. along the 300 block of High Street, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pottstown Police Chief F. Richard Drumheller announced Monday.
Pottstown Police were called to the scene for a report of a fight and when they arrived found the man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.
The man was stabbed on the south side of High Street and ran crossing the road toward an open store where he collapsed on the sidewalk on the north side of the street, according to a report from the scene. Police later placed evidence markers to show the path the victim took before collapsing on the sidewalk.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, authorities said.
Witnesses told WFMZ-TV the man had been playing his guitar in the street before the incident took place.
