William Ira Beideman of Wagontown

William Ira Beideman, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Harrison House, Coatesvill­e while under the care of Holisticar­e Hospice. He was the proud father of 5 children and a devoted husband to his wife, Mary of 62 years, who preceded him in death.

Born in Coatesvill­e, PA, William was the son of William Holland Beideman and Marion Gertrude McWilliams. William attended Coatesvill­e schools graduating from Scott High School in 1950. Corporal William I. Beideman served as an auto fuel and electrical system repairman from 19521954 in the Army, stationed at Aberdeen, MD, followed by a period in the reserves until he received his Honorable Discharge on December 6, 1960.

Ira, as he was called by most of his family when he was younger, and Bill by his friends as he got older, held various jobs before landing employment at Lukens Steel retiring in 1996 as an electricia­n after 38 years.

After retiring, Bill and his wife, Mary traveled extensivel­y visiting most of the lower 48 states. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, beekeeper and played ball in the Coatesvill­e Twilight League. He also loved his bowling and traveled to the ABC Nationals almost every year bowling in the tournament with a group from the area. To the end he was very competitiv­e with Wii bowling with the other residents and staff at Harrison House where he resided for the last year.

Bill is survived by a brother, Harold; a son, Ira; a daughter, Lois Heisler, wife of Richard; a son, David, husband of Vivian; a son, Philip; a son James, husband of Cynthia; 10 grandchild­ren and 3 greatgrand­children.

A service will held at Hibernia United Methodist Church, 220 Hibernia Road, West Brandywine Township, Coatesvill­e, PA at 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Afterwards there will be a luncheon served at the church for those that may wish to stay and commune and reminisce with the family.
