J.P Mascaro awarded $25M residential contract
Contract is second largest competitively bid residential contract of its type in Pa.
AUDUBON » J. P. Mascaro & Sons was recently awarded the second largest competitively bid residential waste collection and recycling contract in Pennsylvania.
The five-year trash and recycling contract, valued at $25 million, was awarded by the Southwest Bucks Solid Waste Committee. Based on the committee’s unanimous recommendation, Northampton, Upper Southampton and Lower Southampton townships voted to award the contract to Mascaro.
This is not the first time J. P. Mascaro & Sons has worked with the municipalities, according to William F. Fox, general counsel for Mascaro, who added that the company has bid and won the contract before, and must meet all the bid specifications as outlined by the municipality at the beginning of each competitive bid cycle.
Under the newly-awarded contract, Mascaro will provide the 24,000 Southwest Bucks Solid Waste Committee homes with weekly curbside trash collection and weekly recyclables collection in a 64-gallon toter provided by Mascaro.
Fox said several things differentiated the company in this process, including “our experience and our ability to comply with all of the mandatory requirements of the bid specifications. But also, our price on this contract for the next five years is lower than what the residents are currently paying,” he said, adding that the price will be about $7 less per year for residents over the course of the contract.
Fox added that while the company’s routes are well established in the municipalities, Mascaro will be adding 13 or 14 new collection vehicles.
“Our company takes great pride in being awarded this premier residential waste services contract by Northampton, Upper Southampton and Lower Southampton Townships, and we are committed to providing premier service to the SWBSWC residents with new modern equipment, experienced service personnel, and a dedicated upper management team,” Pat Mascaro, company president, said in a press release.
J.P. Mascaro & Sons will serve the Southwest Bucks Solid Waste Committee contract from its Bridgeport operating division.
The Audubon-based J.P. Mascaro & Sons provides residential solid waste and recycling services to 65 Pennsylvania municipalities in 10 counties, including Berks, Delaware and Montgomery counties. For more information visit www.jpmascaro.com.
