Geralde Warner Morgan, 82, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 in King William County, Virginia. Mr. Morgan was born on December 21, 1934 in West Chester, Pennsylvan­ia to the late Earle Edgar and Louise Browne Morgan. He was predecease­d by his wife, the late Mary “Pat” Morgan.

In 1972, he accepted a position at the State Department of Commerce as assistant to the director of a Regulatory Agency involving examinatio­ns, licenses and enforcemen­t agency. Most notable was his selection (one of twenty-five administra­tors) by former Governor Charles S. Robb to participat­e in the prestigiou­s and notable Virginia Executive Institute program designed for recognized and establishe­d leaders in Virginia State Government. In January 2000, he retired from his work and continued to keep busy and full of activity and he worked part-time.

Geralde was an avid community activist always mindful of the well-being of his fellow man. His service in the community included being a member of the King William County Planning Commission, Retired Teachers Associatio­n, the Mattaponi Crime Solvers, the Electoral Board of King William County and member of the King William County Ruritan Club. He was also a dutiful member of Third Union Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Vincent F. Morgan, a sister, Joan M. Bessicks of Avondale, PA, two nephews: Victor J. Morgan of Reading, PA and Matthew Bessicks of Avondale, PA; a niece, Alisia L. Morgan-Dulaney of Chapel Hill, NC, one sister-in-law, Emmaline M. Page of King William, VA, one niece-in-law, Brenda L. Page Smith, four nephewsin-law: John R. Williams Jr., George H.C. Page Jr., Michael O. Page and Kevin B. Page; five great niecesin-law, two great nephewsin-law, four great-great nieces-in-law, two greatgreat nephews-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Union Baptist Church, PO Box 74, King William, VA 23086 or the Mattaponi Crime Solvers or one of his preferred charities notably: The Red Cross, Boy’s Town, Lung and Heart, the Salvation Army or the Cancer Foundation.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 20 from 6-8 p.m. at Third Union Baptist Church, 452 Walkerton Rd., King William. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 21 at 11 a.m. at Third Union Baptist Church. Rev. W.D. Talley, Pastor officiatin­g. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
