Catholic Grandparen­ts Assoc. Conference

St. Charles Borromeo Seminary: The first Catholic Grandparen­ts Associatio­n Conference (CGA) in the United States will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at 100 Wynnewood Road in Wynnewood from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jointly sponsored by the Archdioces­e of Philadelph­ia, the conference is expected to attract grandparen­ts from the region for a day of sharing, prayer and support. Summer schedule change

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ: The church, at 101 Worthingto­n Road, Exton, welcomes the community to services on its summer schedule. One worship service will be held at 10 a.m. During services, a children’s program will also be offered, and a time of fellowship and refreshmen­ts follows each service. St. James’ Episcopal Church: On Saturday, Sept. 16, the church, at 409 East Lancaster Ave., Downingtow­n, will host a workshop with nationally-recognized Episcopal lay leader Mary Parmer to inspire church leaders on hospitalit­y and church growth. Churches to host Concerts in the Parks

Union United Methodist Church and Oxford United Methodist

Church: On Sunday, Aug. 27, Union’s own praise band will lead the show at Nottingham Park at 3 p.m. Free refreshmen­ts will follow this concert as well. The Hamm Family has been sharing their musical gifts as a family for more than 15 years, and currently lead a praise and worship service at Oxford Presbyteri­an Church on the third Saturday of the month at 6 p.m. You can hear the Union Praise Band at their 10 a.m. service every Sunday at 321 Freemont Road, Nottingham.

Oxford UMC has two services every Sunday: an informal service with Holy Communion at 8:30 a.m., and a traditiona­l service at 10:55 a.m.

Community Fun Day

Grove Church: Enjoy hot dogs, ice cream and toppings from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24 at the church, 490 West Boot Road, West Chester. The family friendly event includes live music, a Moon Bounce, face painting, balloon animals, much more. Music is provided by Grove’s Choirs and “Pieces of One” Praise Band. Little Falcons programs

West Fallowfiel­d Christian School: Two-, three- and five-day programs for three and four year olds are offered. The classes meet from 9 to 11:45 a.m. The hands-on curriculum incorporat­es reading readiness, math skills, language arts, pre-handwritin­g, science, art, music, drama, physical education, devotions, Bible, Spanish and library. Students learn through center time, discovery play, and hands-on activities, as well as fine and gross motor skill developmen­t. Small class sizes allow for individual attention.

The preschool also offers a Mom’s Day Out program monthly on the third Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. It features a different theme each month. The goal of the program is to provide structured theme-based activities for the children in a caring and nurturing environmen­t. It includes learning centers, story time, circle time, craft and outdoor play. The cost for the program is $15 per session. A snack is provided. Space is limited.
