Neil passed away peacefully August 16, 2017, with his wife by his side.

Neil Livingston Millar was born in Cincinnati, OH, April 12, 1941 to John N. and Helen Rankin Millar. The family settled in Danville, PA where Neil attended Danville High School, graduating in 1959, and met his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Louise Fruit Millar.

After high school, Neil joined the Army Tank Corps and served on the German East/West border patrol for 32 months. Upon returning home he attended Wilkes College and worked as an intern for Baron & Strassman Accounting. Neil and Bonnie married in June of 1965. By November 1967 Neil answered a newspaper ad for Accountant at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Wilmington, DE, and with the promise of warmer weather, Neil and Bonnie moved to a home on Milltown Rd. – the day they arrived it was snowing.

In 1973 Neil and Bonnie built a home in Landenberg, PA, where they raised their two daughters, Gabrielle and Noel.

Neil retired from GM in 1998 and worked for UPenn’s New Bolton Center for a time. He was a diehard Penn State Fan, an avid golfer and even marshalled for the LPGA for several years. He enjoyed NASCAR and Indy Racing, having had the pleasure of attending the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Sr., and Danica Patrick were his favorites.

Neil is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie L. Millar, of Landenberg, PA, brother, John Millar of Virginia Beach, VA, sister, Johanne Henrickson of Forest Hill, MD., cousin, Helen Coppin of Tucson, AZ, daughters Gabrielle Millar of Indianapol­is, IN, Noel Wardwell of Drexel Hill, PA, grandchild­ren Matthew Rush, Gregory Gontz, Tyler and Jack Wardwell, 6 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 24 at 12 noon at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE where friends may visit from 10 am-12 noon. Burial will be private.
