Lee F. Best, 83, passed away on August 17, 2017 at Neighborho­od Hospice in West Chester.

Born on November 1st, 1933, he spent most of his life in Downingtow­n.

He was a volunteer ambulance driver with Minquas Fire Department, an umpire with Downingtow­n Little League and later in life, a volunteer at St. Martha’s Manor.

Lee loved sports, whether it was Philadelph­ia teams, Downingtow­n teams or his children and grandchild­ren’s teams. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

Lee attended Church Farm School in his childhood. Lee served in the United States Air Force. He worked on the bread line at Pepperidge Farm for over 45 years, where he was famous for his great smile and friendly demeanor.

Lee was the devoted husband of Adeline DiMarco Best, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. He was the father of Steven Best of Downingtow­n, Michael Best of Downingtow­n and Linda McGinty (Tim) of Glenmoore. He was the son of the deceased Francis Best and Anna Mae Jordan Best.

Lee was the loving PopPop to 7 granddaugh­ters and 1 grandson; Coleen Best, Shawna Best, Lisa Best, Chelsea Best, Jordan McGinty, Linzy Best, Hannah McGinty and Madison McGinty. He also had 6 great-grandchild­ren; Hailee, Gianna, Trevor, Lilianna, Jasmine and Lyric.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, August 19th, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtow­n, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in Lee’s honor may be made to the Minquas Fire Company Ambulance Club, 141 Wallace Ave., Downingtow­n, PA 19335 or the Downingtow­n Little League, 318 Manor Ave., Downingtow­n, PA 19335.
