Borough police, in conjunction with the Municipal Drug Task Force officers, announced they arrested a West Chester man last Thursday for possession of suspected heroin with the intent to deliver.

Police said when they attempted to apprehend the suspect at about 2:30 p.m. for the alleged violation of possession of narcotics with the intent to deliver, the suspect then fled in his vehicle from the area of 150 East Pennsylvania Avenue. Police identified the suspect as Jermell Snell,

35, of West Chester.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle struck a parking curb and prevented him traveling toward oncoming traffic, and he reportedly exited the parking lot onto Wallace Avenue. Police said Snell drove straight on Wallace Avenue and went past Mill Alley, driving the wrong way in the one-way section of Wallace Avenue.

Police said Snell turned left onto East Lancaster Avenue and made a righthand turn into the Colonial Electric parking lot where

he allegedly struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. His car continued and hit the Colonial Electric building where it came to a rest, according to police. The store at 206 East Lancaster Avenue sustained moderate damage, according to the police report. No injuries were reported.

Both vehicles sustained damage. The car driven by Snell had moderate frontend damage and two flat tires, according to the report. The other vehicle had minor damage to the bumper.

Police continued to follow Snell, who they said reportedly fled east on foot. The foot pursuit was parallel to East Lancaster behind

several buildings. Police said they placed Snell in custody behind Jad’s Pizza at 226 E. Lancaster Ave.

Police said that a total of 108 suspected heroin dose units were reportedly found in Snell’s car.

Snell is in Chester County Prison, unable to post his bail set at $250,000, according to his online criminal report. In addition to possession with intent to deliver, he is charged with driving while operator privilege is suspended or revoked, reckless driving, flight to avoid apprehension and related charges, according to the criminal report.
