Indians rout Garnet Valley

Unionville had goals from six different players as they recorded its second straight runaway vic- tory as they blanked Gar- net Valley, 6-0, in the West Chester Rustin Tournament in girls soccer action Saturday.

Veronica Hineman, Claire Matson, Jackie Hug, Hayden Wilson, Sam Ciccarelli and Riley Glackin found the back of the net for the Indians (2-0).

Katie Borlie notched three saves for the shutout.

OCTORARA 2, PEQUEA VALLEY0» Nathan Sellers and Thomas Prusak tallied firsthalf goals as the Braves opened the season with the nonleague shutout. Jakob Kettner made five saves.

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 7, SPRING-FORD 0 » Caroline Webb and Kayla Barr scored twice apiece as the Cougars rolled to the nonleague victory.

Water Polo

MALVERN PREP 16, LOYOLABLAK­EFIELD 7; MALVERN PREP 20, CALVERT HALL 8 » The Friars (3-0) swept the two games at Episcopal Academy. Issac Salinas had six goals, two assists and two steals in the first game. Steven Salle added five goals, five assists and five steals. Sean Oates notched two goals and three assists. In the nightcap, Griff Delaney made 16 saves and Malvern totaled 20 steals as a team. Salinas led the offense with eight goals and five steals and Salle added three goals and six assists and Brennan Tobinson had three goals.

Boys Cross Country

NORTHAMPTO­N INVITATION­AL » Aaron Stoyack finished 10th in 16:22 to pace the Downingtow­n East. Junior Nick Robinson finished 11th in 16:32 and freshman Jacob Lawson was 27th in 16:52.

Girls Cross Country

NORTHAMPTO­N INVITATION­AL » Sophomore Allie Squeri placed 16th in 20:02 for Downingtow­n East. Charlotte Roumpz finished 25th in 20:31.

College Men’s Cross Country

WILMINGTON INVITATION­AL

» Freshman Isaiah Thomas placed wighth overall and the Lions finished fourth as a team in the Wilmington Invitation­al. The Lions finished with 90 points, 21 behind third place University of the Sciences. Host Wilmington University won the meet with a score of 24 points. Thomas, in his collegiate debut, completed the difficult 8,000 meter course in 30:38.66 to earn eighth place overall and take home a medal. His time was the fastest by a Lincoln runner on the Carousel Park course since Kyle Edwards ran 30:33 in 2013. Deiondre Brown was the Lions second finisher, placing 17th overall with a time of 33:54.29, over two minutes faster than his effort last season at the event. Nicolas Deleon was right behind Brown, placing 18th overall with a time of 34:24.52.

Women’s Cross Country

WILMINGTON INVITATION­AL

» The Lions finished fifth as a team with 122 points. Senior Adia Berkel was Lincoln’s top finisher, placing 19th overall with a time of 25:47.63, taking nearly three minutes off her 2016 time at this event. Amanda Okodugha made her collegiate debut and placed 23rd in 26:39.03.

CSAC PREVIEW » The Mighty Macs won the team portion with 31 points. Paula Barrett cross the finish line in third place with a time of 29:49 to lead the Immaculata field. Emily Cardie was fifth in 30:38, while Mary Ellen Grap followed with a time of 30:41 for sixth place. Karalyn Sitch placed ninth in 30:50, and Mackenzie Green rounded out the Top 10 with a time of 30:53. Caitlin MacGregor was in 15th in 32:46, and Celsey Golato finished 16th, crossing the finish line in a time of 32:55.
