Gov. Wolf tours Bryn Mawr Hospital
Gov. Wolf toured the improvements at Bryn Mawr Hospital Thursday and will be in Coatesville today.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf visited Bryn Mawr Hospital Thursday morning to tour the hospital’s new $200 million, 200,000-squarefoot, state-of-the-art facility that is under construction. In addition to the new pavilion Wolf also had the chance to see the hospital’s newly renovated Warden Lobby space and the neonatal intensive care unit.
“The tour of Bryn Mawr Hospital was an excellent opportunity to see the hospital and health system’s commitment to patient care and comfort; two very important aspects of health care that might be overlooked if not prioritized,” said Wolf.
The governor will be in Coatesville Friday afternoon to review the city’s revitalization and economic efforts.
Bryn Mawr Hospital President Andi Gilbert gave the governor a brief history of the 319-bed hospital and its importance in the community. Among those in attendance for the visit were Main Line Health officials, including CEO Jack Lynch; Stephen Aichele, chairman of the board of trustees of Bryn Mawr Hospital, as well as state Rep. Tim Briggs, D-149, of Montgomery County, and Rep. Greg Vitali, D-166, of Haverford.
Wolf spoke to construction workers as he surveyed the building’s new atrium.
In speaking with reporters, Wolf called on the Republican-controlled House to act on a plan to fund the $32 billion budget. He also said he is working to have Pennsylvania considered in the running for the recently announced Amazon project to build a second headquarters with as many as 50,000 jobs. Wolf mentioned the state is already home to a number of a Amazon distribution centers.
Following the tour, Wolf met privately with hospital executives and physicians to discuss health care issues and the proposed federal repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act.
According to a press release from the governor’s office those in attendance included, Andy Norton, MD, chief medical officer, Main Line Health; Pat Ross, MD, system chair of Surgery, Main Line Health; Ray Baraldi, MD, vice president of Medical Affairs, Bryn Mawr Hospital; Michael Criscuolo, executive director, Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation; Jason Arbacheski, Government Relations manager, Main Line Health; and Marianne Harkin, vice president, Patient Services.
