Great Valley triumphs in overtime
Tanner Pascocello scored on a rebound 64 seconds into the first overtime to give Great Valley a 3-2 victory over Downingtown West in the Ches-Mont League boys soccer opener for both teams Thursday.
The Patriots (1-0, 1-0-1) ral- lied from a 2-1 halftime deficit.
Sean Schusko scored from in close in the first half. Nick Pfau headed in a cross to tie the game with 2:15 left in the second half.
Moments into the extra session, Nate McKay fired a shot that was dropped, then touched in by Pascocello.
Emily Wurzel, Livi Lawton, Emily Buckner and Ella Marrollo scored for the Cougars in their Ches-Mont National opener.
Tatum Johnson pumped in four goals as the Whippets (1-0, 2-0) rolled to the Ches-Mont victory. Pappas foillowed with a 43 as the Braves (3-3) captured the Ches-Mont American match. Andre Kiddie and Matt Feeney had 43s for the Golden Knights.
Amantha Yao had two birdies for a 2-over-par 37 to lead the Pioners to the Central League victory. Ryan Tall and Ben Lee also had 37s. Kemp Bassett added a 38 and Morgan Lofland a 39.
Tyler Teague’s threeover-par 38 helped the Patriots (4-1) post the Ches-Mont American triumph. Ben Gaver paced the Blue Demons with a 40.
Oliia Dodge and Amy Zhang earnes a hardfought victory at first doubles as the Pioneers (1-1, 3-1) fell to the Rams for the first time in nine years.
