-

Joan (Joanie) Miraglia Greco of West Chester, Pennsylvania passed away on September 7th, 2017 from cancer. Joan’s three children, two grandchildren and her niece were by her side surrounding her with love when she passed.

Joan was born on January 14, 1933 on 9th Street in South Philadelphia to Italian immigrant parents, Filomena and Vito Miraglia. Joan was little sister to her four older doting brothers, Sandy, John, Lee and Mario. Born to a mother of 44 years of age in a time of little to no medical advances, Joan was considered a “miracle baby.” So, it is no wonder that miracles continued to surround Joan and follow her throughout her life.

While living in Yeadon, PA as a single mother at the age of 40, Joan was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer with just a few short months to live. God smiled upon Joan with a “second miracle” completely erasing all traces of the fatal disease.

Shortly after her miraculous recovery, Joan applied to a highly-competitive accelerated nursing program. After graduating with Honors, she had a successful 25year career at Misericordia Hospital working with terminally ill patients in an experimental cancer treatment program. Her personal experience uniquely enabled Joan to deliver the highest level of compassionate care to her patients and their families.

In 1997, Joan moved to West Chester, PA., where she devoted her time to serving customers at the popular Market Street Grill, owned by her son, Kerry Greco.

Three years ago, Joan received a “third miracle” from God. While diagnosed with lung cancer, Joan successfully defeated it and lived for another three years.

She is survived by her three adoring children, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Greco (Elizabeth), Ms. Gigi Greco, and Mr. Kerry Greco, six grandchildren Morgan, Marla, Tory, Christian, Dylan, and Dominic, and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Brody and more on the way.

In addition, Joan had a much larger family to whom she gave advice, fed, scolded, laughed with and loved over the years. Her generosity and love made Joanie a second ‘Mom’ to many. Joan leaves a BIG loving legacy. She will be loved and missed deeply.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing which will be held on Thursday, September 14th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Logan Funeral Home, 698 East Lincoln Highway, Exton, PA. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 15th, 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church located at 233 W Gay Street in West Chester, PA 19382 where friends and family may also call 8:45 - 9:45 AM at the church.
