Whippets beat Henderson for first time in history
Downingtown West beat West Chester Henderson for the first time ever on Thursday as they fashioned a 5-2 Ches-Mont League girls tennis victory.
Jordan Bradley beat Hannah Baxter, 6-4, 6-2 at first singles for the Whippets (4-2). Holly Koons also posted a victory at second singles.
Tori Christian and Kayla Grigano clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph at second doubles.
Victoria Ming was victorious over Lily Shi at third singles for the Warriors.
Zach Robinson carded a 38 as the Whippets knocked off the Warriors in the Ches-Mont National match.
Evan Drummond notched a 38 as the Cougars outlasted the Red Devils. Zach Bruecks carded a 39 for Avon Grove. the 25-20, 25-13, 25-13 win. Tess Elder added eight kills and Julie Gallagher added 20 digs.
The Patriots swept to the Ches-Mont American victory, 25-19, 25-17, 2518. Great Valley was led by strong all-around play from Alana Cunningham. Leah Rizzi, Maggie Renehan and Lindsay Gal were strong offensively and Regan Mack powered the defense.
Logan Wolfe paced the Hornets with two aces, nine kills and a block. Madeline Williams added 10 assists and Danielle Stackhouse notched 25 digs. and freshman Marley Alleva scored for the Patriots (4-1) in the Ches-Mont American win. Siani Richardson, Makenzie Hilditch and Jane Chen were standouts in midfield.Goalkeepers Evelyn Seasholtz and Ryan Curley combined for eight saves.
The Vikings scored two first-half goals and held on for the Ches-Mont victory. Ava Laumakis, Danielle Scully and Kinzie Thompson scored for East.
Emily Kaplan and Sydney Thureen recorded the Blue Demons’ (0-3, 2-3) goals. Maddie Thureen notched a pair of assists.
