The Whippets are 2-2 and are playing 10 sophomores in starting roles. Will Howard, the sophomore quarterbac­k has been impressive, but West must run the ball more effectivel­y to be a playoff team. THE GRADE » B-

Bishop Shanahan

Although the Eagles nonleague schedule was not the toughest around, they took care of business. The road gets tougher now as the Downgtowns and Coatesvile­le loom on the horizon. The Eagles’ defense has been surprising­ly solid.

The Red Devils garnered their first win of the season Friday with a 56-0 pasting of Octorara after a good game in a loss to Unionville, which means they may be on the upswing. THE GRADE: C-

The Hornets are no longer a surprise, they are a solid football team that can compete in the Ches-Mont American. Quarterbac­k Chandler England has thrown 11 touchdown passes. THE GRADE » B

Octorara

In the Braves’ swan song to the Ches-Mont League (they leave for the Lancaster-Lebanon League next year), they are vying for a Class 4A playoff berth. THE GRADE » C
