Family of victim seeks clarity, closure
Family of the Honey Brook man killed in hit-and-run is hoping to raise reward money for information
WEST CALN » The family of the Honey Brook man killed Sunday in a hit-and-run are raising funds for information leading to the driver responsible for the incident.
Pennsylvania State Police at Embreeville responded to the hitand-run that occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday at Hill and Compass roads in West Caln. State police said they found the victim, a 20-year-old man from Honey Brook, lying on the roadway. State police said that he died of his injuries after he was transported to Paoli Hospital.
Relatives established a GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward for any information leading to the person or people responsible. His relatives said that Gavin Manness, 20, of Honey Brook, decided to walk home on Sunday morning after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tele-
phone pole while on his way home from a friend’s house. He walked about two miles onto Hill Road, when he was struck by another vehicle and the driver fled.
“It’s difficult finding closure when we don’t really know what happened,” the relatives told the Daily Local News on Tuesday.
They hope to raise
$5,000 for the fundraiser account which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/gavinmanness.
“Thank you for your generosity in helping the family make some sense out of a very tragic incident!” The GoFundMe page states.
Manness was supposed to start a new job at R-V Industries in Honey Brook on Monday that he was really excited about, his family said.
His family said that he
loved riding motorcycles and he used to race at Piston Poppers Raceway. He played football and lacrosse for Twin Valley High School. He enjoyed rapping, even writing his own songs, drawing, dancing, playing pool and loved his sneakers and clothes.
