Pryor announces bid for state House in 74th District
EAST FALLOWFIELD » East Fallowfield resident Frank Pryor announced on Friday that he is seeking the Democratic nomination for state representative for the 74th House District.
“As state representative, I will advance opportunities for jobs and economic development, advocate for quality education and state of the art school facilities, and support our senior population,” Pryor said in a news release. “We all deserve access to quality health care, safe streets, and affordable access to a college education. My vision is clear. My efforts are focused. My commitment is unwavering.”
The 74th district includes the townships of Caln, East Caln, East Fallowfield, Sadsbury and Valley; the boroughs of Downingtown, Modena, Parkesburg and South Coatesville; and the City of Coatesville. The seat is currently held by state Rep. Harry Lewis Jr., R-74, of Caln, who is in his second term. When reached for comment, Lewis refrained from formally making a comment about his intentions to run for re-election. No other Democrats have yet indicated they will seek the nomination.
Pryor has been a faculty member in the Political Science Department at Villanova University since 1997. Pryor was appointed in 2014 to serve on Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s Transition Team to provide policy guidance as part of his Higher Education Advisory Group.
“Frank is just the kind of person we need to be our state representative,” said East Fallowfield resident Jim Mosley. “He is smart, hardworking and committed to the long term development in all of the communities that comprise the 74th legislative district.”
Resident Emango Hopewell described Pryor as a professional.
“But I am most impressed with his lifetime of community service, volunteerism and dedication to youth development programs like the Coatesville Youth Initiative,” Emango said. “He is just the kind of leader our district needs, and the reasoned voice we want in Harrisburg representing our interests.”
Pryor noted that his team has already begun to knock on doors to engage voters.
“The response thus far has been fantastic across the entire district,” said Pryor. “I’m thrilled with the opportunity to serve.”
