Kimberton Fire Company will be holding two fundraising events at the Iron Hill Brewery in Phoenixville.

PHOENIXVILLE » If you’ve got a thirst for suds, and would also like to support your local fire company, you should mark next Tuesday, Sept. 26, on your calendar.

On that date, Kimberton Fire Company will be mounting two fundraising activities, both at the Iron Hill Brewery in Phoenixville.

At 5 p.m. on that date, “Tower 61” will make its debut as the new beer in town. As described by the brewery, the beer is “a session IPA (Indian Pale Ale) sporting a golden color and notes of citrus and honey oats.” The ale takes its name from Kimberton Fire Company’s emergency dispatch number and its soon-to-be-acquired 2017 105-foot Seagrave tower ladder (known as Tower 61). From 5 to 10 p.m. that evening a $1 will be contributed to the fire company for every pint of Tower 61 sold.

“The name of the ale is unique,” said Eric Kiley, a fouryear-member of Kimberton Fire Company and an eight-year bartender at Iron Hill. “Hopefully, when the patrons start sipping the ale, they will inquire about the name; we will tell them what it’s all about and pique their interest enough for them to stop by the station and, who knows? Maybe, we’ll pick up a few more volunteers.”

The tower ladder, which includes a bucket at the top of the ladder, will be used for fire and rescue operations. The vehicle is on order and is expected to be delivered within days.

The second fundraising event, known as the “Give 20,” will be held on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. when Iron Hill Brewery opens, until 10 o’clock that evening. “Give 20” is an activity that all Iron Hill Brewery locations participate in for nonprofit organizations. To support Kimberton Fire Company for this event, individuals must first go to the fire company’s website (kimbertonfire.org), click on “fundraising events,” and then click “Iron Hill.” This will bring up a coupon which can be printed out. When presented at Iron Hill Brewery on Tuesday, a contribution equal to 20 percent of the food purchases will be made by the chain to Kimberton Fire Company. Individuals may print out as any coupons as they wish.
