Dolly F. Hagenbach of Driggs, Idaho

Dolly F. Hagenbach, age 79, of Driggs, ID, and formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her family, on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Born in Jennings, MO, on May 17, 1938, Dolly was a daughter of the late John W. Burks, Sr. and Florence (Round) Burks. She attended Jennings High School where she was a standout athlete serving as captain of the Warriors’ volleyball and basketball teams, as well as co-captain of the softball team. Dolly attended Southeast Missouri State University. Soon after, she began a brief career as a women’s profession­al baseball player; a shortstop and catcher, a pioneer in a league later made famous by the movie “A League of their Own.” Dolly was two-time women’s golf club champion at Concord Country Club in West Chester, PA and women’s golf club champion at Desert Horizons Country Club in Palm Springs, CA. She was an outstandin­g artist and a dedicated mother and grandmothe­r devoting all of her time to her children and their interests.

In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hagenbach. She is survived by her son, Steven M. Ennen (Jean) of Drexel Hill, PA; daughter, Alison L. Drumheller (Kurt) of Driggs, ID; stepsons, Robert C. Hagenbach (the late Janet) and Lee W. Hagenbach (Jacklyn), all of Hockessin; grandchild­ren, Fiona, Fletcher, and Foster “Fuzzy” Ennen, Nicholas and Kallen Drumheller, and Hunter and Haley Hagenbach; and sister, Shirley Frazier (Ray) of St. Louis, MO.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, in the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in Dolly’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
