Warrant issued in month-old shooting

PHOENIXVILLE » Three days after announcing the Philadelphia capture of a suspect in a deadly shooting, borough police have issued a warrant in a month-old attempted homicide.

The shooting incident occurred on Sept. 2 at 502 Ringold St., the address of the Prima Hotel and Lounge, according to a post on the police department’s Facebook page.

Police are seeking a man named

Mustafa Thompson in connection with the shooting.

“Thompson is considered armed and dangerous, do not approach call 911 if he is seen. Anyone with information in reference to the shooting should contact Det./Sgt. Patrick Mark at (610) 933-1180 X 815,” according to the post.

Phoenixville Borough

Councilman Michael Kuznar posted that “The reason it wasn’t immediately released to the public was it was an ongoing investigation where they believed they had a suspect and didn’t want it revealed that they knew who it was, potentially hindering their capture of the suspect. Once they got enough information together to charge the suspected shooter they release the information to the public.”

The September incident

was the first of two shooting incidents in the borough this month.

Keyon La-Shawn Carpenter, 21, wanted in the shooting death of a 20-yearold man on Bridge Street Thursday night, was captured in Philadelphia, police announced Friday afternoon.

Police said Carpenter shot and killed Joshua Mitchell, 20, during a dispute in the 200 block of Bridge Street in a section known as “Children’s Plaza.”
