Pipeline press conference and rally set for Oct. 17
Dinniman to announce legislation to improve safety along pipeline routes
Residents, families, and community members impacted by current or planned natural gas pipeline projects are invited to join state Sen. Andy Dinniman, D-19, for a special press conference and rally at the State Capitol in Harrisburg on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
“Residents, homeowners, and families have real and valid concerns regarding pipeline construction activities and the potential threats to their health, safety, and wellbeing,” Dinniman said. “In Chester County, we have serious concerns regarding Mariner East, but this is a statewide issue with myriad individuals and families across the commonwealth impacted by the seemingly endless number of pipeline projects that are either already underway or on the horizon.”
The event will begin at 11 a.m. with a press conference in the Capitol Media Center where Dinniman will announce a bipartisan package of legislation aimed to improve safety along pipeline routes.
In addition, Dinniman will be joined by members of the Uwchlan Safety Coalition, concerned residents and parents, and representatives of various other environmental
and safety organizations in calling on Gov. Tom Wolf to halt pipeline drilling and construction activities until adequate inspection and safety measures are implemented.
Immediately afterwards, residents, and community members will hand deliver a petition and letters to the governor’s office before beginning an afternoon of lobbying efforts in Harrisburg.
