Sallie Fair Davies

-

Sallie Fair Davies, 83, of Freedom Village in West Brandywine, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Known for her wry wit and humor, she will be missed by all her friends and family. Be it with one liners or pranks, she was sure to make you smile, relax and laugh in her company. The daughter of the late Dewey Issac Fair and Rachel Miller Fair, Sallie was born and raised in Ford City, PA. She had two brothers, both of whom preceded her in their deaths, Frank Fair and Jack Fair.

Sallie was a 1952 graduate of Ford City High School. She attended Pennsylvania State University before marrying in 1958 and settling in the Philadelphia area. Her musical acumen in both piano and violin garnered praise as she was included in the all Pennsylvania Orchestra in high school. Her love of music continued throughout her life, as she led her various church music groups while raising her children in Bethel, Phoenixville and Malvern, sang in choirs and enjoyed playing the piano.

Sallie is survived by her four children: Susan Davies Lloyd of West Chester, Ellen Davies Miller of Kennet Square, Laura Davies Worker of Lancaster, and Charles Davies III of West Chester. She left this world with seven grandchildren: Ken Weidner, Bill Lloyd, Melissa Lloyd, Mark Worker, Emily Worker, Meagan Davies and Liam Davies, and one great-grandchild Avery Lloyd.

Sallie began her career working at Devereaux Schools and over the years she held worked as a substitute teacher at the Phoenixville Vocational Technical School, and held a variety of positions, ending with Vanguard Financial Services as an Account Specialist in Malvern from 1986-1999. In her retirement she continued playing the piano, and singing in the choir, until the progression of her Parkinson’s disease precluded it.

We welcome you to join us in a memorial service to remember Sallie to be held on Sunday, October 15, at 4:00 pm, at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 89 Line Road, Malvern, PA.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Michael J. Fox foundation, or to the Christ Memorial Lutheran Church Elder Fund.
