Wendy Winslow Lofting of Kennett Square
Wendy Winslow Lofting, age 70 of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday October 4th, 2017. Born in New York, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Scudder” Winslow and the late Elizabeth Russell Winslow.
Wendy was an artist through and through. She attended Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts as an art major and continued throughout her life to explore her creative passions. She illustrated children’s books, crafted trophies for the Steeple Chase and performed at the Delaware Theatre Company. Wendy even won an award for her one woman show where she portrayed Harriet Tubman.
Wendy cared a great deal for the environment. Her belief in the preservation of our natural environment, ecosystems, vegetation and wildlife led her to volunteering with various organizations such as the Blackfoot Challenge Organization, Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County, Stroud Water Research, Brandywine Conservancy and Canine Partners for Life. As a member and volunteer for these organizations Wendy worked to bring awareness to issues that were near and dear to Wendy’s heart.
Wendy is survived by one son, Hugh Lofting and his wife, Sally; one daughter, Elliott Lofting; one brother, Tom Winslow and his wife, Sheila; two sisters, Betsy Wagner and her husband, Bruce, and Gail Minot; as well as her grandson, Tuff Lofting.
You are invited to visit with her family and friends Friday, October 20th at 1:00 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, located at 401 N. Union St, Kennett Square, PA 19348. Following the visitation, the family will host a reception. Interment will be held privately.
