Charles G. Detwiler Jr. of Narvon

1924-2017

Charles G. Detwiler Jr., 93, went to be with the Lord on October 18th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was the loving husband to Grace Umstead Detwiler with whom he shared over 68 years of marriage.

Born on May 5, 1924 in Norristown Pa he was the son of the late Charles G. Detwiler Sr. and Francis Crankshaw Detwiler.

Charles pastored Pughtown Baptist Church (1958 to 1965), First Baptist Church of Fairchance (1965 to 1972), and East Brandywine Baptist Church (1972 until he retired in 1989). He also served as Pastor to Seniors and Pastor Emeritus at East Brandywine Baptist Church during his retirement years. Prior to becoming an ordained minister he was a Nuclear Physicist at Knoll’s Atomic Power Lab (GE) in Schenectady, New York.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by son Larry G. (Cathy Tathwell) Detwiler of Honey Brook, Pa, daughter Mary E. (Beth) (late Jan) Coudriet of Elverson, Pa, son Mark E. (Janet Neff) Detwiler of Elverson, Pa, son Timothy P. (Cynthia Miller) Detwiler of Morgantown, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm at East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike Downingtown, Pa. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm.

Interment will follow the funeral service at the church cemetery.
