Mark E. Harned of Paoli

Mark E. Harned, age 84, died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 in Paoli, PA.

Mark is survived by his sister-inlaw Barbara Ehly Harned, and niece Ann Harned Reisinger, both of Mechanicsburg, PA, as well as his nephew E. Michael Harned, and nephew’s children James and Anna Harned of Indianapolis, IN.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis Eugene Harned and Virginia Slater Harned, and older brother Eugene Harned of Paoli, PA and his twin brother, Ellis William Harned of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Mark was born on June 19, 1933 in Paoli, PA. He graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor’s degree in education and Temple University with a Master’s degree in education. Mark served in the Army. He worked his entire career as a teacher in the West Chester school district, from which he retired in 1990. Mark was also a member of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church. Mark was devoted to his family and cared deeply about being an educator.

A Visitation and Memorial is scheduled for Friday, October 27 at Alleva Funeral Home, 1724 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli PA. Visitation begins at 11am and Memorial will begin at noon. Burial will be at Good Samaritan Church, Paoli. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mark’s life.

The family would like to thank Doris Shortlidge, who with her husband Justice, provided Mark with a lifetime as devoted friends and neighbors.
