Families participate in ribbon cutting, guided tours
WAYNE » After months of planning, construction and anticipation, St. David’s Episcopal Day School (SDEDS), 765 South Valley Forge Road in Wayne, made its official debut into the Main Line community with a ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 19.. Families and community members had the opportunity to participate in guided tours of the newly renovated building, learn more about the school’s programs and curriculum, and enjoy refreshments.
“We couldn’t be more excited to share this important milestone with the community as we gear up to welcome our first students for the 2018-2019 academic year,” said Dr. Marissa Kiepert Truong, head of school at SDEDS. “Our newly renovated building, situated on 39 acres of the beautiful, historic grounds of St. David’s Episcopal Church, provides the perfect setting for children to learn and thrive.”
The brand new coeducational, private, independent school resides in the Knewstub Education Building of St. David’s Episcopal Church and offers programs for 2-year-olds through kindergarten, including a transitional kindergarten option. In addition to a hands-on curriculum, SDEDS offers a wide range of extracurricular activities — such as the arts, Spanish, physical education, nature, chapel and music — to support the development of well-rounded, intellectually curious children. In the coming years, SDEDS will extend its curriculum through fourth grade.
“We are very proud of our new Day School,” adds Brooke Choate, M.A., director of academic support. “Our curriculum truly is unique — with small student-to-teacher ratios, a whole-child approach to learning and programming that is grounded in Christian values, emphasizing character development and spiritual growth.”
In addition to the ribbon-cutting event, SDEDS will host an open house Sunday, Dec. 10 at noon as well as a local speaker series Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 29 at 6 p.m. SDEDS is also hosting the annual Main Line Parent Education Fair Nov. 4, from 11 to 2 p.m. Private tours are also available throughout the fall and can be scheduled online.
SDEDS is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and is committed to diversity, inclusion and education for all. The school has a tuition assistance program available for qualifying families.
