Joint effort in 15th annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail

- Staff Report

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office joined hundreds of other law-enforcement agencies in 42 states on Thursday, participating in the 15th annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.

Held each year during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the event, which is sponsored by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon, is designed to target domestic violence offenders. However, Chester County Lt. Adam Sibley stressed that the team apprehends anyone with an outstanding warrant during the detail.

In Chester County, a total of 39 warrant service attempts resulted in the arrest of four subjects and the service of seven warrants. Although some of those attempts involved individuals with violent criminal histories, the detail was conducted safely and without incident, Sibley said.

Nathaniel Lease, 27, was arrested at his residence in West Brandywine Township on three warrants: one misdemeanor bench warrant for failing to appear in court, and two non-traffic summary warrants. Edna Guest, 45, was taken into custody at a residence in Honey Brook Borough on a felony bench warrant for an alleged probation violation. In the City of Coatesville, David McGarry, 59, was arrested on a misdemeanor bench warrant for an alleged probation violation, and Dashon Dunston, 26, was picked up on two misdemeanor bench warrants: one for failing to appear in court, and one for an alleged probation violation.

Sibley said Cpl. Joseph Woulfe led the detail, which

began before daybreak. It included 11 deputies and two K-9 teams.

“We are very proud to represent Chester County and contribute to a successful

fugitive apprehension detail that targets family crime,” said Chief Deputy Jason Suydam. “The collective teamwork among the law enforcement agencies for this nationwide effort is impressive. The deputies did a great job and everyone came home safe.”
