Unionville routs CB South for fifth place in district tourney

Annie McDonough had two goals and an assist as ninth-seeded Unionville rolled past Central Bucks South, 6-1, to finish in fifth place in the District 1 Class 3A field hockey playoffs Friday.

Katie Anderson had a goal and two assists. Maggie Lawrence, Claire Donovan and Madi Holt tallied a goal each.

Carly Hewes made two defensive saves and Lizzie Gabel made 15 saves.

The Indians will meet the District 11 champions in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday.

Girls Tennis

PIAA CHAMPIONSH­IPS » Two of the three area representa­tives were eliminated in the first day of the PIAA tournament at Hershey Racquet Club. In 3A singles, junior Jordan Bradley of Downingtow­n West started off with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lindsey Fadden of McDowell in the first round. Bradley was ousted in the quarterfin­als by Ashley Huang of North Allegheny, 6-2, 6-1. In 3A doubles, Priya Aravindhan and Olivia Dodge of Conestoga advanced to the semifinals, beating Alexander Pancau and Aneesa Malik of Conrad Weiser, 6-3, 6-1. They will face Melissa Vizcardo and Alyssa Sarver of Pine-Richland, who beat Great Valley’s Adira Nair and Sadie Buzan in the quarterfin­als.

College Field Hockey

WEST CHESTER 1, EAST STROUDSBUR­G 0» Caitlin Kelly scored in the first half as the Golden Rams pulled off an upset over top-seeded East Stroudsbur­g. Kelly deflected a shot a by Kaitlin Hatch. Marissa Elizardo made nine saves in goal.
