Police: Driver in custody after 2nd crash about a mile away
WEST GOSHEN » Two West Chester University students were injured in a hit-and-run accident on South Campus Drive near Pomona Hill Drive at 8:48 a.m. Monday morning. Police say a car drove onto the sidewalk headed south when it struck two students at the bus stop. The car then veered down the hill. Damaged bricks and car parts could be seen at the spot which is in front of the softball field.
A second accident occurred about one mile away at 9 a.m. at High and Linden streets in West Chester. Police reports indicate that incident was related to the previous accident.
According to Nancy Gainer, executive director of the Office of Communications at West Chester, the driver was taken to the hospital from that accident and is in police custody but is not a university student. She did not have an update on the students’ condition.
“Our concern for the students is intense,” Gainer said. “We are working with West Goshen police to find out more information.”

The West Chester University Police Department said via a statement on social media that multiple witnesses had come forward already, and that if anyone had any direct conversation or interaction with the vehicle operator at any time during these incidents, they are urged to contact Sgt.
