Stanley J. Miller Jr., M.D., of Newtown Square, formerly of Wayne

Stanley J. Miller, Jr., M.D., age 86 of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of Wayne, PA died on November 4, 2017. He was born in West Chester, PA to the late Stanley J. Miller M.D. and Miriam Lane Miller.

Stanley was a graduate of Episcopal Academy, Williams College, and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School; he completed psychiatric residency at the Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital. He served as a Captain in the USAF Medical Corps 19621963 and practiced psychiatry in Paoli from 196297. A staff member at Paoli Memorial Hospital, Stanley was acting chair of the Department of Psychiatry there 1980-90.

He enjoyed many creative hobbies, including gardening with a special interest in wildflowers; woodworking, and mobile-making; and photography. He liked working with his hands. He photographed the wildflowers of northern Vermont and southeastern Pennsylvania over many summers and gave slide shows to community groups in both places.

Stanley was the husband of Ann Fosnocht Miller; father of Stanley J. Miller, III (Laurie); Michael S. Miller (Melissa); Peter J. Miller (Maria); and the late Mark A. Miller (Kerstin). He was brother of Marlene Buckley; grandfather of Hollis and Parker Miller; Sara and Julia Miller; Ingrid and Anna Miller.

Services and interment will be private.
