Charles G. Chapel of Honey Brook

Charles G. Chapel, 92 yrs., of Honey Brook, passed away on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Meadows Health Care Center at the Tel Hai Retirement Community, following an illness.

He was born on August 21, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio. Charles was the son of the late Charles Glenn and Olive Marie (Hrejsa) Chapel. He was the husband of the late Virginia J. (Folkwein) Chapel, who died on June 28, 2015.

Charles served his country with honor for 40+ years in the US Navy, holding the rank of Sr. Chief Quartermas­ter. After his retirement from the US Navy, he was active in the Fleet Reserve of Philadelph­ia. Charles also was an English high school teacher for the Ridley School District for many years. He enjoyed the history of the US Civil War.

Charles was preceded in death by a son, James D. Chapel and a brother, Joseph Chapel.

He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Bill) Simmet of Honey Brook and four granddaugh­ters, Olivia, Carolyn, Valerie, and Juliet Simmet.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:30 AM from the Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, Pa., with Rev. Tim Herr officiatin­g. There will be no funeral home or chapel services.
