Cabrini Award recipients honored at gala

-

RADNOR » Cabrini University celebrated the impact of education and honored members of its community during its annual Visionaries Gala Nov. 3.

Held at Cabrini’s historic Woodcrest Estate, the blacktie optional event included a silent auction, awards ceremony, and a “Make It Happen” fundraiser.

Surpassing its goal, the “Make It Happen” fundraiser raised more than $60,000 after senior Treci Butler of Bridgeport shared his experience as a History and Political Science major at Cabrini.

All proceeds from the event support Cabrini students — the next era of visionaries — through scholarship aid and enhancements to the student experience.

This year’s Gala aligned with the University’s 60th anniversary year and befittingly celebrated alumni, professors, and friends who have shaped the mission and work of Cabrini.

The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSCs) — the University’s founding order — received the Christopher Award for Extraordinary Leadership for their integral role in the University, from its founding by Sister Ursula Infante to the formation of the University’s core values and mission to provide an Education of the Heart.

Additional honorees included Chair and Professor of Communication Jerry Zurek, PhD (Malvern, PA), and Professor Emerita Cathy Yungmann (Havertown), who both received the Luminary Award for inspiring success through their careers, their respective communities, and their impact in the lives of others.

Candice Linehan (’03) of Media received the Compass Award for continuously exhibiting clear direction — as an alumna and an advocate — to respect and protect the life and dignity of every human being. Linehan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and currently serves as Director of Sexual Assault Services at Delaware County Women Against Rape (DCWAR).
