State store coming to Shoppes at Longwood
A super-sized state store will be coming soon to the Shoppes at Longwood Shopping Center off of Route 1.
EAST MARLBOROUGH » A super-sized state store will be coming soon to the Shoppes at Longwood Shopping Center off of Route 1.
At their meeting last month, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control board approved the relocation of the state store at the New Garden Town Square Shopping Center, near the Giant Supermarket, to the Shoppes at Longwood.
According to sources, the store, Fine Wine and Good Spirits, will be onethird larger than the state store in Avondale, which is one of the largest LCB state stores.
It is unknown whether the new store will take occupancy at the old Super Fresh building, but Laurie Prysock, East Marlborough manager, can’t imagine where else it would go.
“The township did not get any pre-notice on this,” she said. “I haven’t got any information from the LCB. They haven’t submitted a permit, plans or anything. I am a little in the dark. Unless they are subdividing, it would be surprising they would go in where the Super Fresh was.”
Prysock said the state store relocation plan will not be on East Marlborough’s Dec. 18 agenda.
The Super Fresh closed on Sept. 4, 2015 and has been vacant ever since. The building occupies 44,184 square feet. It is owned by East Marlboro Associates, the corporate entity that owns the shopping center.
