Building forever families one adoption at a time
After a few years, with multiple attempts at trying to conceive a child, but to no avail, and finances becoming depleted to do so, former Main Line denizens, Kipp and Becky Fawcett, decided to investigate the possibilities of adopting a child instead. They soon learned just how physically, mentally and financially depleting it could be. It quickly led them to ponder the question, how are people without a lot of monies able to make their dream of having kids come true? Thus a “family building” non-profit was born.
Titled “HelpUsAdopt. org” the Fawcetts have now been instrumental in bringing together more than 230 families who’ve had to walk their same path in order to partake in parenthood.
Both husband and wife where cognizant and thankful of their ability to finance their desire for children as well as understanding the lack thereof for other couples. They wanted to make the joys of raising kids available to others who longed to be parents and thus began their “granting” non-profit HUA. Business for their product has been brisk with more than 1,000 people per year applying to have the opportunity to become a parent by raising, loving and caring for a child.
The evening’s keynote speaker, Katie Schreckengast of Palmyra, N.J., had been adopted from South Korea before her first birthday.
Poised and assured, the young lady was crowned as Miss Pennsylvania last spring and, though a student at Penn State, is taking her position and platform for adoption on the road when her studies and classes allow.
There were few dry eyes in the crowd as she spoke of her parents and how their choice of her as their daughter, forever changed the course of what her life would have been in her native land.
