Man arrested following thefts at Turkey Hill, Family Dollar
Coatesville police were dispatched to the Turkey Hill, 100 Kings Highway, for a report of retail theft on Dec. 12 at 8:10 p.m. Responding officers made contact with Anthony J. Salerno who was outside by the gas pumps. While speaking with the officers, a novelty ice cream treat fell from inside of Salerno’s pants. Further investigation revealed that Salerno had stolen over $50 worth of merchandise from Turkey Hill. Salerno had also failed to pay for $7.19 worth of gasoline. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected marijuana and several pills.
Coatesville Police were then dispatched to a report of a theft that had occurred about an hour-anda-half earlier at the Family Dollar 400 E. Lincoln Highway in Coatesville. Upon speaking with the manager and reviewing security footage, Salerno was observed removing security tags from clothing and stuffing the items in his pants. When Salerno was arrested at the Turkey Hill, he was found to be in possession of a T-shirt, boxer shorts and a pair of slippers. The retail value of the stolen items from the Family Dollar was $34.00. Salerno was arrested, processed and released.. Other reports from around the region:
Coatesville
On Dec. 5, at 4:36 p.m. police were dispatched to the 300 block East Diamond Ave for a hit-and-run accident. Upon arrival, police found that William Pyle, 61 of Coatesville drove down East Diamond Street the wrong way and entered a parking lot from the exit area. It was at this time a crash occurred. Pyle’s vehicle sustained damage to the front bumper area. Pyle spoke with the operator Ebelixa Melendez, 22, of Coatesville and attempted to give her room to move her vehicle to the side of the roadway. Once Melendez had enough room to escape, she fled the scene. Pyle was able to provide registration for Melendez. Melendez later told police that she became afraid and left the scene of the crash. Melendez said that her vehicle was not damaged. Both operators were cited as a result of the crash.
WRONG WAY »Police performed a vehicle stop at the 500 block of Chestnut Steet on Dec. 11 at 10:30 p.m. after finding Steven Ray Custer, 20, driving the wrong way for several blocks on E. Chestnut St. Drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. Custer was found in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine and was charged with the possession with intent to deliver the drugs.
CAR STOLEN » On Dec. 13, 7:12 p.m., Christopher Lopez, 26, of the 200 block of West Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, called police to report his car was stolen. Lopez reported his gray 2010 Chrysler Sebring stolen from the 200 block West Lincoln Highway.
WARRANT ARREST » On Thursday at 10:09 p.m. while investigating a fight call at Pennsylvania Avenue and Olive Street, police observed Luis Burgos, 25, of Maple Avenue, Coatesville, who matched the description of one of the involved subjects in the fight. Burgos was also wanted on an active warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and held for arraignment.
DOMESTIC » On Thursday 14, at 8:11 p.m., police responded to the unit block Virginia Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Contact was made with a female victim who told police that she and Major Culclasure Jr., 24, had a verbal disagreement. During the argument Culclasure struck the female subject. Culclasure was taken into custody for summary harassment then released.

On Dec. 4 at 5:15 p.m., police received the report that two residents of the 400 block Church Alley had delivered packages stolen from their properties between 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Some of the items were recovered on a trail off of South Broad Street.
PARTS MISSING » On Dec. 4 police received the report that a resident of the 200 block Ridge Avenue sold an item on eBay. The purchaser returned the item with parts missing.
CAR DAMAGED » On Dec. 5, sometime between 2 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 8 a.m., someone damaged the driver side door handle of a vehicle parked in the 300 block Marshall Street.
PACKAGE STOLEN » On Dec. 6, a delivered package was stolen from the porch of a residence located in the 300 block Marshall Street.
DUI » Police arrested Constance Luttrell, 57, of Malvern, on Dec. 8 at 10:15 a.m. for DUI following a traffic accident at South Washington and West Cypress Streets. Luttrell was released to a relative pending summons from District Court.
