Kenneth Vincent Snyder, Jr. passed away peacefully at Garden Spot Village ( GSV), New Holland on Thursday, December 7, 2017, after a long journey through the stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Born to Anna Lois Coe Snyder and Kenneth Vincent Snyder, Sr. on April 20th, 1931, in Concordvil­le, PA where the family farmed. Ken lived most of his life in Chester County, PA, where he raised his children, worked at Sun Oil, Marcus Hook refinery and eventually farmed the land and was the long- time coowner of The Gooseberry Bush, Landscape and Nursery Company formerly located on Rte. 113 in Downingtow­n. Ken served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict in the early 1950’ s.

Ken is survived by his wife, Susan Patterson Snyder, also of Garden Spot Village. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Lynn Mack ( Glen) of Gap; son Ken Snyder, III ( Joan) of Downingtow­n; three grand- daughters, Gwen Smoker ( Jason) of Parkesburg; Beth Briggs of Portland, Oregon and Kathryn Briggs ( Dave Fayans) of Arbroath, Scotland. While he was preceded in death by his sister and brother- in- law Ann and Victor Johnson of Elkton, MD; he is survived by his sisters Emily Martin ( Robert) of Woodbridge, VA; Lois Williams of Elkton, MD; Gerry Young ( Charlie) of Honeybrook and his brother Stephan Snyder ( Darlene) of Downingtow­n, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After retiring from fulltime employment, he took up carving birds, ornaments and figurines which he generously shared with friends and family. He also revitalize­d his longtime love of flying RC planes and fully cherished the times he had flying, crashing and rebuilding his planes with his friends in RC Flying Clubs in both Chester and Lancaster Counties. While living at Garden Spot Village he volunteere­d his time as a GSV shuttle bus driver; during special events on campus, including the annual Pedal to Preserve bicycle event and manning the RC flight simulator during open houses; and in the GSV wood working shop.

Per the family’s request, services were private. To honor Ken’s boundless kindness and witty sense of humor, we ask that you performa random act of kindness in his honor or simply make someone laugh.
