Malvern Prep tops Unionville boys; Indian girls best Villa Maria

Above, Malvern Prep’s Matthew Magness takes the 200 Individual medley in a time of 1:56.35 in a swim meet against Unionville Tuesday at Malvern Prep. The Friars beat the Indians, 93-73. Below at right, Villa Maria’s Kaitlyn Agger takes the 200 Individual medley in a time of 2:14.29 against Unionville. On the girls side, Unionville topped Villa Maria, 107-79. Below at top left, Unionville swimmers get pumped up before the start of the meet. At bottom left, Unionville’s Caroline Mayk swims the butterfly in the 200 medley relay against Villa Maria Tuesday at Malvern Prep. Unionville won the event in a time of 1:48.96.

Lauren DiCamillo set three pool records as Coatesvill­e opened the Ches-Mont League National Division season with an 107-73 victory over Bishop Shanahan on Tuesday.

DiCamillo set a pool and school record in winning the 100-yard butterfly (57.57) and a pool record in the 200 freestyle (1:54,61). She also joined with Peyton Wolf, Kayla Bock and Kristin Bria in the 200 free relay (1:38.43).

Other event winners for the Red Raiders (1-0, 2-0) were Wolf (200 IM), Bock (50 free, 100 free), Jordyn DiCamillo (100 breast), Lauren Wolstenhol­me (500 free), Mackenzie Yosko (100 back) and Sydney Schroeder (diving).

Emma Shields (100 breast, 200 free) and Mia Ceribelli (500 free, 100 back) were double winners for the Eagles (0-1).

Boys Swimming

COATESVILL­E 95, BISHOP SHANAHAN 82 » Cameron Boldaz, Ethan Moore and Ethan Vannoy won four events each as the Red Raiders (1-0, 2-0) won the opening Ches-Mont National meet. In the relays the three were part of the 400 free relay. Boldaz was part of the 200 medley re- lay, while Moore and Vannoy were part of the 200 free relay. Individual­ly, Boldaz took the 100 breast and the 50 free. Moore the 200 free and the 100 fly and Vannoy the 200 IM and the 100 free. Graham Mulvaney was a winner in diving. Jack Fidanza nabbed the 500 free and the 100 back for the Eagles.

CONESTOGA 105, HARRITON 79» Brendan Burns was a double winner in the 200 medley relay and 100 backstroke. Oliver Brown won the 100 butterfly and 400 free relay, Evan Zhou was part of the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Miles Whitaker won the 500 free, Aidan McKenrick won the 200 IM and Ryan Look won the 100 breaststro­ke. MALVERN PREP 93, UNIONVILLE 73 » The Friars (11) captured their first win of the season in the nonleague meet. John Connors and Matt Magness won four events each. Conners won the 200 free, 100 free and was on the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay with Magness, who was on the 200 medley relay team and captured the 200 IM and the 100 back. Matt Hopkins (50 free), Danny Faunce (diving) and Issac Salinas (100 breast) were single event winners. Liam Callahan nabbed the 500 free for the Indians.

VILLA MARIA 41, ST. BASIL 35 » Abby Walheim led the way with 18 points as the Hurricanes (3-0, 4-0) posted the AACA victory.

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 44, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 31 » The Warriors (2-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten with the Ches-Mont National victory as Erin Thompson collected 19 points and four steals. Abby Shea added eight points and eight rebounds, while Maddie DePrisco dished out six assists. Julia Marrone led the Whippets (0-2, 1-5) with nine points.

GREAT VALLEY 43, KENNETT 40 » The Patriots improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in the Ches-Mont American. Sadie Buzan had 12 points and Analiese Porreca had 11 as Great Valley used a big third quarter to take over the lead. Andrea Prestianne had 16 points and Caroline Hertz 15 for the Blue Demons.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 55, COATESVILL­E 50 » Sammi McCarter scored 17 points and Megan Cox added 16 as the Eagles (1-1, 2-4) used a big fourth quarter to trip up the Red Raiders (1-1, 1-4) in the Ches-Mont National contest. Neveyah Chester paced Coatesvill­e with 12 points.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 53, SUN VALLEY 31 » Maggie O’Hare had 19 points and Erin Gallagher and Dikaya Daniels had 10 each as the Golden Knights (41) jumped out early for the Ches-Mont American victory.

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 59, WEST CHESTER EAST 46 » Erin Phelan scored 23 points as the Cougars (2-0, 4-0) cruised to the Ches-Mont National win. Marissa McDonald paced the Vikings with 23 points.

Boys Basketball

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 38, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 18» Stuart McEvoy paced a balanced attack with seven points as the Whippets (20, 3-3) rolled to the ChesMont National victory. Archer Rymieszews­ki led the Warriors (0-1, 0-4) with seven points.

GREAT VALLEY 55, KENNETT

39» Nate Graeff (25) and Liam Ward (20) combined for 45 points as the Patriots posted the Ches-Mont American win. Mitch Kosara paced the Blue Demons (0-2, 1-5) with 14 points.

OCTORARA 78, UNIONVILLE 73 » Dom London poured in 44 points as the Braves outscored the Indians in the Ches-Mont American victory. Bo FureyBasti­an had 25 points and Shawn Rafferty added 20 for the Indians. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 60, WEST CHESTER EAST 42 » Andrew King had 17 points and Malik Slay added 15 as the Cougars (1-1, 2-1) collected the Ches-Mont National win. Jack Riley had eight points and was strong defensivel­y.
