John C. ‘Jack’ Evans of Quarryvill­e, formerly of Steelville

John C. “Jack” Evans, in his 73rd year and a Quarryvill­e resident, formerly from Steelville, Chester County went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Jack fought a valiant, seven-year cancer battle with his signature “Happy Jack” style.

Born in Coatesvill­e, Pa., Jack was the son of the late John C. Evans and I. Verel Evans (John). He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy L. Evans (Humenuk); daughter, Tiffany E. Lantz and her husband, and his son-in-law Charles B. Lantz; granddaugh­ters Olivia E. Lantz and Caroline B. Lantz. In addition to his parents, Jack was predecease­d in death by his son John C. Evans III in 1992.

Jack was a 1962 graduate of Octorara Area High, and attended West Chester University. He was employed by Lukens Steel Company for 23 years, and then retired a self-employed electricia­n.

Jack was a member of Skerrett Lodge #343 Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvan­ia for over fifty years where he served as Worshipful Master in 1973. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Reading and served as Thrice Potent Master of the Lodge of Perfection from 1981 - 1982. Jack was coronated a 33rd degree Mason in Milwaukee, WI on September 29, 1998.

Jack was a lifetime member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a Board of Trustee member for years before transferri­ng his membership to Memorial UMC of Quarryvill­e.

Although illness in recent years interfered with Jack’s ability to get to soccer games and concerts, his adoration and interest in his granddaugh­ters and all their activities was never-ending. He is and will forever be their beloved “Deppy.”

A viewing will be held Friday, December 29th, from 6 PM to 8:45 PM with a Masonic Service beginning at 8:45 PM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, Pa., and again on Saturday morning from 10 AM until 11 AM, at which time A Cele- bration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM from Wilde’s with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solanco Neighborho­od Ministry, 355 Buck Road, Quarryvill­e, PA 17566 in Jack’s Memory.
