June ‘Junie/Nana’ Audrey Holt McCorkle, formerly of Wagontown

June “Junie/ Nana” Audrey Holt McCorkle, age 89 passed peacefully on 20 December, 2017, three days before her 90th birthday, under the care of hospice. She was born to the late John L. and Ida Pearl Bernard Holt, on December 23, 1927. For the last 20 years, June has made Punta Gorda, Fl. her retirement home with her many friends and family, and had thoroughly enjoyed life living in Florida.

June grew up in Hibernia, Pa, and graduated from S. Horace Scott Sr. H.S. in 1944, located in Coatesvill­e, Pa. at the age of 16. She was employed at a very early age in the sales organizati­on of the former Lukens Steel Company, Coatesvill­e, Pa. and retired after 44 years as Supervisor of Pricing and Billing.

She married the love of her life, and was the widow of Jack Franklin McCorkle, of whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

June was very religious and always involved with the church. She was a member of the Hibernia Methodist Church, Hibernia, Pa. in her younger years, and later became a member of the Wagontown Union Chapel, Wagontown, Pa. where she was on the Board of Directors for the day care center prior to her moving to Fl. In Punta Gorda, Fl. June enjoyed and attended the First United Methodist Church, and was a very active member of the singles bible study group for many years.

June loved life and enjoyed her home, family and friends and always had a smile on her face. She never knew a stranger, and always looked for the good in everyone that she met. She was very active and had a wonderful group of friends whom she shared many wonderful times with. She loved animals and will truly be missed by Coco her little Havanese dog.

She was a former member of the Isle Yacht Club, Punta Gorda, Fl. serving on various committees. June enjoyed traveling, boating, decorating, entertaini­ng, cooking, dancing, cross word puzzles, reading her bible and enjoyed all that life had to offer.

She is survived by her only child a daughter, Darryl Lynne Lockhart (nee Raymond E.) of Punta Gorda, Fl, and an only grandchild, Melissa R. Lockhart, Punta Gorda, Fl. One sister, Terre Morris (nee Joseph) of Coatesvill­e, Pa. One niece Heather Wright (nee Craig), Coatesvill­e, Pa. One Great-Niece Arden Wright, New York, NY. Four cousins, Charlotte Bould, Wagontown, Pa., Susan Lord, Dandridge, TN., Heather Armstrong, CO. and Merrily Hoover, NY.

She was preceded in death by her loving nephew Joseph H. Morris, Jr. (nee Amanda), Lewes, DE.

Funeral service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to - Alzheimer Associatio­n, Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or charity of your choice.
