Police seek suspect in armed robbery of Family Dollar Store

Parkesburg police are investigat­ing a reported robbery of the Family Dollar at 120 West First Avenue on Friday evening, just before 7 p.m. A white male robbed the clerk of cash after implying he had a gun. Video evidence of the crime is being examined and police are asking witnesses in the area to help identify this dangerous actor.

The suspect is described as being medium build and standing six foot tall, wearing a grey Under Armour hoodie, tan pants and covering part of his face,

DRUG CHARGES » Anna K. Henderson, 21, of Oxford was arrested and charged with simple assault, as well as with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), following an incident on Dec. 15 At 12:19 a.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of Walnut Street, in West Grove for a domestic disturbanc­e. Upon arrival, the caller advised police that the disturbanc­e resulted from him confrontin­g Henderson about illegal drugs and taking them from her. He reported that she became physical and struck and him several times. PUBLIC DRUNKENNES­S » Brian P. McDermott, 22, of West Chester was cited for public drunkennes­s, after he was found by police to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance to the point that he was staggering in the roadway. The incident occurred on Dec. 17 at 12:08 a.m., in the 100 block of Skyline Drive, in New Garden. Police had been called to the area for a vehicle that repeatedly drove past a resident’s house. McDermott and another subject were attempting to locate a residence on the street but were lost. PUBLIC DRUNKENNES­S » John J. Salter, 23, of Landenberg was cited for public drunkennes­s, after he was found by police to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance to the point that he was staggering in the roadway. The incident occurred on Dec. 17 at 12:08 a.m., in the 100 block of Skyline Drive, in New Garden. Police had been called to the area for a vehicle that repeatedly drove past a resident’s house. Salter and another subject were attempting to locate a residence on the street but were lost. A non-traffic citation was filed.

ASSAULT » Sean W. Cooper, 20, of Landenberg was charged with simple assault and harassment in connection with an incident that occurred on Dec. 9, in the 100 block of Hamilton Road, in New Garden Township. At 6:46 p.m. that date, police were called to the residence for the report of a physical domestic disturbanc­e. Upon arrival, it was reported that Cooper had struck a family member in the arm and back and police observed evidence of recent physical injury that corroborat­ed the report. Cooper was taken into custody at the scene but was transporte­d to the hospital for evaluation.

HARASSMENT » Wilbert Noel, 52, of New Castle, Delaware, was cited for the summary offense of Harassment, in connection with an incident that occurred on Dec. 20. Police were called to the 6600 block of Limestone Road, in New Garden, following an altercatio­n in which Noel is accused of grabbing the victim by the hair and striking her on the head with an open hand. ASSAULT » Hailey A. Markel, 21, of Kennett Square was arrested

and charged with simple assault and related offenses following an altercatio­n on Dec. 14 At 12:04 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Glenfield Drive, in New Garden for the report of a physical domestic. Upon arrival, police made contact with Markel, as she was attempting to leave the residence. Upon making contact with the caller, police observed that he had a fresh cut above his eye that was bleeding and starting to swell.

TWO-VEHICLE CRASH » Jose H. Beltran-Salas, 35, of Kennett Square was arrested and charged with accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed and several related traffic offenses, following a two-vehicle crash that was witnessed by police. The incident occurred on Dec. 7 at 7:57 a.m., at the intersecti­on of Gap Newport Pike and Penn Green Road, in New Garden. The Nissan that Beltran-Salas was operating failed to yield and turned left in front of an oncoming Honda SUV, causing a collision. The other driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

DRUG CHARGES » Makenzie Y. Miller, 19, of West Grove was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act following a traffic stop for a moving violation. The incident occurred on Nov. 30 at 9:33 a.m., in the 200 block of Starr Road, in New Garden. Police on stationary patrol observed a Toyota sedan traveling westbound on Starr Road at a high rate of speed, in the posted 35 MPH zone. Once behind the vehicle, an additional infraction in the form of a windshield obstructio­n was observed.

DRUG CHARGES » Matthew R. Hanling, age 25, of Wilmington, Delaware, was arrested and charged with a violation of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic

Act, after he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The incident occurred on Dec. 18 at 1:42 a.m., in the 300 block of Buttonwood Road, in New Garden. Hanling was a passenger in a 2011 Nissan that was stopped for erratic driving.

DRUG CHARGES » Jose MoraVallej­o, age 19, of West Grove was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), tampering with or fabricatin­g physical evidence, and two traffic offenses. The incident occurred on Dec. 18 at 5:23 p.m., in the 900 block of Newark Road, in New Garden. The 2007 Dodge that Mora-Vallejo was driving was stopped after it was observed making an illegal left turn. Upon making contact with Mora-Vallejo, drug related contraband was observed in the vehicle.

Alan Errol Carter of Coatesvill­e was taken into custody after a report that he had struck a female and was traveling with a stolen firearm and drugs in his car on Dec. 11 at 2:25 a.m. in the 1300 block of Doe Run Road in West Marlboroug­h, police said.

IDENTITY THEFT » Two females cashed checks totalling $4,150 at the Citadel Bank in Pennsbury on Dec. 11 at 12:17 p.m. It was determined that they had stolen items from a woman including blank checks and had forged her signature. The two suspects fled toward Delaware County on Baltimore Pike, police said.

RETAIL THEFT » Irene Padilla, 50, of Philadelph­ia was issued a citation for stealing $82.69 worth of merchandis­e from Walmart in East Marlboroug­h on Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m., police said.

BURGLARY » Someone took a chain saw from a shed in the 500 block of West Creek Road in Pocopson Township between Dec. 4 and 8, police said.

HARASSMENT » David McDonald Culgan of West Grove was issued a citation for harassment after he punched a female in the head when they got involved in an argument in the 100 block of Worby Road in Penn Township on Dec. 8 at 8:45 p.m., police said. PROPULSION OF MISSILES » Someone struck the windshield of a car and broke it, also causing the tire to go flat on Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. on Baltimore Pike in Pennsbury, police said.
